How I Study Effectively
This week I thought I would share with you my study techniques to make the most out of my study sessions and be well prepared for everything uni has to offer. Lately a hustler for exams and assignments, and with these studying techniques, I was able to make the most out of my goals.
Up until a few weeks ago I did not know what the Pomodoro technique was, and to be honest, I wish I would have learned about it earlier. This learning method is super effective, and I was able to get a lot of work done in a concise amount of time.
First, you think of the work you need to do and „separate“ this work in little steps. Instead of trying to reach your goal in one take, you get the perspective of reaching your goal step by step. In other words, you separate your work into „pomodoros“. One pomodoro constitutes to 25 minutes. First, study for 25 minutes. Then you take a break for 3-5 minutes. After that, you repeat between those sessions until you have reached the 4th pomodoro. Then you take a break for 20-30 minutes and repeat the session.
You can set a timer, or you can use the technique I am currently doing. At the moment I love to study with the YouTuber „TheStriveStudies“. She is a medical student and uploads videos of herself studying. You can study with her together, and it is an excellent way for me to keep yourself motivated and to keep on working on the tasks I need to do. You can also find Pomodoro Apps for your smartphone.
Brainwave Music: Brainwave music is a great way to stay focused. It gets you into a workflow, and your brain gets into a state of high concentration.
Lofi Hip Hop: It is one of my best new music finds I had in the last have few months. This kind of music is super chill and gets you in a relaxed mood.
Nature Sounds: Sometimes I find it helpful to hear nature sounds like forest or beach sounds while studying.
Soundtrack: I am the kind of person who is not able to listen to music with someone singing because I feel like it distracts me from my work. I have noticed that listening to Studio Ghibli Music helps me to calm down and work on my assignments in a relaxed way.
Healthy Supplements to Increase Concentration and Memory
Krill Oil: Krill oil is rich in Omega-3 and is distracted from small sea-creatures called „krill“. They have incredible neurological health benefits, and I find that they help me with studying a lot. Going for a Walk
I have found that taking a walk in between study breaks helps me clear my mind. I highly suggest doing that especially when your brain feels drained at a certain point after studying for a long while.
I hope you found some of this tips helpful and so that you can implement them in your study sessions.
